Are there any aftermarket bolt handles for a Axis., trigger suggestions,

I have a Savage Axis Precision, I don't like the Axis bolt handle, never had, anyone make a replacement. Also what aftermarket trigger works best in them. I have used and customized/built a ton of 110s over the years, this is one of the few Axis I have fooled with. It currently wears a .308 factory barrel, but will be ordering a CBI 6xc, 8 twist this coming week for it.

This is about the only axis bolt handle and sleeves I know of.

I know someone else used to make some, but I don't remember who. I'm not super fond of the Axis bolt handle , but don't have experience with the Glades for mine is only a hunting rifle and I wouldn't want the profile of a Glades handle on a hunting rifle.

As for triggers, I just use a MCarbo spring and washer kit and it is good for what it is on a very accurate, but backup rifle.

.However, Timney and JARD make make triggers for the axis.

Best of adventures on the build.

I put a Timney trigger in my Savage Model 12 and my Savage Axis.

The trigger feels better in my Model 12 than the Axis.

I can adjust the trigger down to 1.5 lb, BUT, some times when closing the bolt the sear will dissengage and allow the firing pin to go forward. It does not hit the primer but you can tell by looking at the rear of the bolt and see the pin has moved forward.

Since this gun is used for bench rest shooting at long ranges I just raise the bolt and lower if again and fire. More of a pain in the ass than anything else.

    Just a FWY

If Accutrigger, with blade, SHIM THE TRIGGER TO HANGER GAP.

MCarbo makes triggers and kits for the Axis as well. Both include nice shims for the trigger as well as the lighter springs. I got the trigger since it had a sear engagement adjusting screw. Similar to the Timney but with the lighter springs and shims included. It also has a safety blade, which means I can adjust it down to what would be an unsafe level using a std trigger.

I did it to both rifles.

Even the accurigger needed small shim on the trigger pin.

The Axis is just plain sloppy and I did try shimming the slop out.

    Thanks for the suggestion though..

I did the older version of the MCarbo trigger spring and shim kit. It drastically improved the rifle into a nice hunting trigger. Friend also ordered one to put in his grandson's Axis and helped it to.
